Lockwoods were always the best for sausages bacon thanks and especially BLACK PUDDING!! I was upset when it closed and the last two christmases were hard with the parties we had on boxing day with hundreds of cocktail sausages we had to buy from a butchers and just tasted really dull. I haven't eaten black pudding since either other than in a cafe that tasted ok. The other famous black puddings from Bury taste like someone dropped a bottle of perfume in the mix and is enough to put anyone off black pudding for life. I just happened to be making a comment on a new butchers that has excellent sausages but are super expensive and they dont do black pudding. For some reason the name Lockwoods slipped my mind as I wanted to mention them in my comment as being the best but that sadly they closed down and I went to google sausage factory Bootle and it come up with Lockwoods reopened in oct 2019. To put it politely I nearly had an orga!

Do you make black puddings and are they the same recipe as in the past? I hope so as it's the best black pudding on the planet although I wont be able to eat it too often anymore after having a heart attack back in August. I used to eat it all the time. I wasnt over weight and they dont know why I had the heart attack either at 48 years old. My cholesterol was high. I sometimes would make a late night or even midnight snack of a few slices of Lockwoods black pudding microwaved for 2 minutes and mashed onto warburtons toastie bread covered in Lurpak butter so the black pudding melted it and occasionally a quick squirt of Heinz ketchup! Heavenly!! sadly now though will just have to have a couple of slices with a cooked breakfast once a week.

Best black pudding I’ve ever had, crumbles slightly in the pan rather than staying like a hockey puck (tasting not much better) which all other stick black puddings seem to do.
Why aren’t these made available via post outside Liverpool!!! I am an old exile living in London and can’t get them on line. I would be a regular customer.

went today 17/01/2020 and was very impressed with the new shop with lots more products and much bigger than the old shop but still fantastic choice and prices we will be regular customers now.
