MARK SARGENT STAMPS - HORNCHURCH, GR

As a retired man seeking a new hobby, I decided to commence collecting as many British stamps as future funds allow, from George VI to date. Being totally fresh to the scene, I decided to start with what appear to be called "Definitives", and placed an order. Admittedly it consisted of many cheap stamps, and was fully and well executed. However, it included a set of 15 George VI 1937 definitive, quoted as "VF" which I understood from the website to mean 'light' franking. I felt 4 or 5 of the set were quite heavily marked, a fact I've since had confirmed, but had assumed in my ignorance that was acceptable. I realised I should have paid the extra and ordered the "MM" set, as I wanted less marked stamps. I emailed and requested if I could exchange the set for the "MM" grade, and pay the difference. I was informed that I could do that "with my next minimum order of £20", which I'm not ready to do at present, until I've mounted and sorted what I've now obtained. I fully admitted it was partly my misunderstanding as a novice, but frankly would have expected an immediate positive response to my request, if I was to prove an ongoing and satisfied new customer at the point of engaging in a fresh pursuit. In the event, I've now purchased, including postage, a mint set on ebay for less than the Mark Sargent price difference, so I could say I've been done a favour!
