THE SASH WINDOW WORKSHOP LIMITED - BRACKNELL, BE

Our new windows were due to have been installed last Thursday. After an initially positive impression of the company, I was aghast to get a telephone call at 6.30 pm the day before the arranged installation date, informing me that they had some problems in the workshop & were unable to install on the agreed date. Installation was then rearranged for the following Saturday.

I had taken the Thursday off work, and my wife and I had both taken the Friday off work, as we had planned to paint one of the rooms. This meant that between us we effectively lost 3 days of work as a direct consequence of the Sash Window Workshop's failure to perform the contract as agreed.

When I complained, the Sash Window Workshop informed me that it was their policy not to provide financial compensation, and that the delay had been due to "circumstances beyone their control"- which is a bit difficult to believe, if it refers to a problem with one of their machines, in their workshop, with their employees.

I was further informed that this was an "unforeseeable" problem- as a professional business, I would expect that some allowance is made to allow for unforeseen circumstances. Clearly this was not the case. The fact that I did not receive notification of the cancellation until 6.30 pm the night before the windows were due to be installed, suggests that they did not realise before then that there would be a problem.

Quite simply an unprofessional approach to selling a very expensive product. I would avoid them in future.
