I joined this practise 33 years ago, when
bedside manners were prevalent. When all the
receptionists treated sick people as
vulnerable , which people we are when we’re
ill. what’s happened to being sympathetic
and eloquent and professional.
Now some of them just want to have a fight
with you if you brazenly dare to ask them a
question such as ‘why?’
When they raise a fact of practice.
The manager at the practice needs to reassess
the attitudes of some of these receptionists,
and maybe some re- training is overdue.
Having said that there are some amazing
receptionists and doctors serving the
patients locally. Maybe they are forgetting
that their job is serving patients, who are
sick. Where’s the empathy, where’s the
sympathy; where’s human-kindness?
